Solution? Have a place for the subscriber to type in their email address twice. That way if there is a mistake your software will catch and they will have to correct it. While, there is a small chance that people will be annoyed with this and may forget to sign up altogether, chances are you will save subscribers than lose them.
Second, remember email addresses change all the time. Make it easy for your subscribers to change their own email address. If you can, place a link in your newsletter directing them to the page that will allow this process. Have a place on the website that will allow them to change it as well.
Third, you need to give the subscriber an option to unsubscribe. While you really don’t want this, people do have the choice to keep what they want and toss what they don’t. Inside the newsletter email, place a link or directions allowing them to unsubscribe. People also associate this unsubscribe link with spam. If it isn’t there, the chances of the newsletter being spam goes down.
Remember if a person wants to unsubscribe to your service to have it go into effect at once. Should it take a week or more to stop receiving the newsletters, the person may associate it with spam.
There are three other methods to get email addresses for your newsletters. By utilizing these three, you can increase your triumph at email address marketing.
